Child discipline is a huge issue for most families. What is the right way to deal with things? There are so many options about how to handle things nowadays. Do we smack? Do we ground? Do we give the kids time out?
I have had one of the busiest weeks in my life this week. Now we all know that when we are busy the kids tend to muck up more, at least that’s what I think. So I have a trick to combat this. Whenever I know that I am going to have a busy week I schedule in time for my children on my calendar. I kid you not! I actually write in when I am taking a child out for an hour. I have to.
Tell me, if you are an office manager, do you have to schedule important appointments? And if you schedule them, do they nearly always happen? Precisely. So why not schedule in on your calendar to spend quality time with your children? Now I’m not saying that is the only time you spend with your kids but I am saying you are more likely to get quality time with them if it is purposeful and planned in writing if necessary. As parents we must do whatever it takes.
This is how I handle the busy weeks of my life. Plus I let my children know in advance by telling them that I will be extra busy during the week. A little bit of communication goes a long way sometimes. That’s all for today. I need to go and spend some time with one of my boys…
